Story

There is no greater show of your faith than by acting and living it out.

Allan Jomba, a young man from Kangemi, does hospital missions/visits. Recently while on a visit to KNH, he came across an abandoned baby. The infant was naked and covered only in a sheet, in this 'winter' that Nairobi is experiencing.

Born without a name, abandoned by his mother 5 months ago. Now, the child has a name 'Baraka' because this child will be a blessing to all of us!

Below is the story in Allan's own words:

"I found this child during my hospital mission to KNH this he is 5months old, abandoned by the mother at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) ... the clothes he has on are all he has. He needs to go to surgery but the hospital has been not been able to do anything coz of his status as 'abandoned'. No one has offered to take responsbility.

Please help me help this child. I don't want money given to me but if you can help I'd love to connect you to the hospital and you can pay direct. Any other help; clothes, diapers, etc, will be apreciated and if you know a Children's home that can take the child, please help because the hospital cannot release the child to me as an individual.....

Remember the story of the good samaritan? A Christian is not known by his profession of faith but but by living up to that profession! There is no Christianity without love and love is expressed by giving whatever good thing we are blessed with, time, money, smile and whatever good thing the Lord has blessed us with. My number is +254728771099. In the story of the good samaritan, don't be the priest or levite who looked and turned aside and went, even reposting this and sharing will help!"

So to date, Allan has been caring for this child who is still hospitalized but isnt receiving treatment. The baby's head is enlarged by the day. There isn't a proper report in terms of diagnosis and treatment. For now the baby's needs are Allan's responsibility - which is a big burden to bear emotionally and financially.

A Facebook Page - Help Baby Baraka - and a Twitter account - HelpBabyBaraka - have been set up to help in providing information on the progress and any other information so visit or follow to stay in touch.

PLEASE HELP IN WHATEVER WAY - IN CASH, IN KIND! To contribute Financially use:

FAMILY BANK KILIMANI BRANCH A/C : 046000014380 Please note that the account is currently under the names :Levi, Michelle and Allan. It was necessary to open a joint account because the appropriate paper work to open a medical fund has not been received.
